Every marriage has specific stages that are more trying than others. Find out how to avoid the potholes and make it through the danger zones of your marriage.
Philippians 4:6-7 (ASV)
6 In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus
Pregnancy and childbirth are one of the most sensitive times of your marriage. If you listen to the stories of many of your friends, you will hear them talk of how their parents were divorced when they were 2 or 3 years old. The marriage did not survive one of the most sensitive times in a marriage…Childbirth. The threats in this time period are due to:
Hormonal Imbalances that lead to offense
Fear of the unknown
Change in Appearance
Mother is consumed with the love of child
Father feeling on the outer circle.
Depression and/or loneliness can lead to a number of responses to your spouse. One of the most frequent responses it can produce is Infidelity. It is no secret that one of the greatest threats in a marriage is infidelity. It is an nuclear bomb for any relationship. The added layer is that the wounded spouse realizes that there is a clear “out” for them that even the Bible will offer them at that moment. If they choose to stay, there is often a long uphill journey of recovery.
There is a reason sickness is specifically mentioned in your marriage vows. Sickness can present a stressor on your marriage in various ways. Some of the areas that sickness can wedge a giant separation include:
Lack of Sexual Activity
Change in Appearance
Change in Ability
Change in Routine
Change in Assistance

Midlife can be a joy or a curse on your marriage, but it often depends on what you did with the earlier years. Empty nesters that poured all of their time into work or raising their children, often feel they are waking up to a stranger in their home each morning. Every year, hundreds of college students receive the news that mom and dad are getting a divorce. Sexual activity can be either really good or really bad. Menopause and male dysfunction can be factors that further separate the couple.
